SEPAR Respira Foundation is the Spanish Lung Foundation, a private non-profit entity linked to the Spanish Society of Pneumology and Thoracic Surgery (SEPAR). Through this foundation, SEPAR promotes research, teaching and social awareness initiatives with the aim of raising public awareness about the importance of respiratory diseases, promoting health education, as well as supporting the prevention and treatment of these pathologies. Likewise, Respira manages aid programs, scholarships and training activities that contribute to scientific advancement and promote the improvement of respiratory health among the population.
With the aim of modernizing and optimizing the management of its training offer, an online store based on WordPress and WooCommerce has been implemented, fully adapted to its specific needs. Through this platform, the courses, manuals, and other training resources that the foundation offers to its users are managed, along with fundraising initiatives intended for charitable causes. The system allows new products to be added quickly, the catalog to be organized in a structured way, and also facilitates the enrollment or purchase process in a simple and intuitive manner.Additionally, a personalized discount coupon system has been incorporated, which makes it possible to create coupons for specific promotions aimed at certain courses or groups. This simplifies the management of promotional campaigns, scholarships, as well as special conditions directed at members or professionals linked to the foundation.
To ensure integration between the online store and the training platform, a custom development called Woomilo has been created, which acts as a link between both systems through an API connected to WooCommerce webhooks. In this way, when an order is created or updated, the corresponding process is automatically triggered on the training platform; if a course is purchased, the system automatically generates the student’s account and sends the relevant notifications.In addition, the solution includes a control panel from which the management of courses, manuals, and coupons is centralized, allowing for unified administration.
As part of the implemented technological solution, a Nextcloud environment has been deployed for the secure storage of information in the cloud, facilitating access and internal collaboration.
Additionally, a Camunda-based application has been used, customized and adapted to its specific needs, as a Business Process Management (BPM) platform focused on the management and orchestration of business workflows. This solution enables the automation of internal processes through BPMN diagrams, structurally defining each phase, responsible party, and validation within the document workflow,thanks to this implementation, documentation has been fully digitized and organized within a controlled environment, where each procedure follows a predefined flow with assigned tasks, tracking statuses, and activity logs. The system facilitates the approval, review, and archiving of documents, ensuring full traceability of each process, which makes it possible to reduce manual errors, significantly improve administrative efficiency, and strengthen transparency in internal management.
