A virtualization infrastructure based on Proxmox VE with Ceph distributed storage has been designed and implemented. The solution was initially deployed using a mesh network architecture, in which the nodes are directly interconnected with each other. Subsequently, as a result of the expansion of the cluster capacity, an adaptation of the network infrastructure was carried out, replacing the initial scheme with a stack of switches, while maintaining at all times the levels of robustness, availability, and reliability of the environment, and adapting connectivity to the new scale of the platform.
The solution is complemented by the implementation of Proxmox Backup Server (PBS) as a centralized backup system, enabling consistent and incremental backups of virtual machines and containers. This approach facilitates rapid recovery in the event of incidents and ensures the protection of critical data, contributing to strengthening the overall resilience of the infrastructure.
