Dragonet Comunicaciones is a telecommunications service provider with more than 30 years of experience, specialising in connectivity, Internet services, telephony, television, Hosting and Housing. With a strong presence in the Marina Baixa region of Alicante, it has established itself as one of the leading operators in the area, providing services to both individuals and businesses.
The company has its own fibre infrastructure and wireless networks, which it continuously expands to extend its coverage to new locations. Throughout its history, Dragonet has remained committed to technological evolution and the development of its own infrastructure, combining connectivity services with solutions focused on system hosting and operation.
Dragonet Comunicaciones has taken an important step in the evolution of its technological infrastructure by migrating its virtualisation environment from VMware to Proxmox VE. To carry out this change, SOLTECSIS participated in the design, planning and implementation of the new platform, adapting it to the company’s current needs and preparing the environment for future growth.
The new infrastructure consists of a three-node hyperconverged virtualisation cluster based on Proxmox VE technology, installed at Dragonet’s premises and designed to work with Ceph distributed storage. To support this, a new network architecture was planned specifically to meet the communication requirements between the nodes, storage and the platform’s different services. This combination provides a centralised, resilient and hyperconverged infrastructure.
For security, the infrastructure’s protection was strengthened through the installation of Proxmox Backup Server (PBS), responsible for centralising backups of the virtual machines and containers hosted in the new environment. This gives Dragonet a backup platform integrated with Proxmox VE, optimised to perform efficient backups and facilitate system recovery in the event of an incident.
The protection strategy is complemented by reusing the old infrastructure nodes to develop a disaster recovery plan (DRP). This architecture makes it possible to reuse part of the existing hardware as an additional contingency layer, providing recovery alternatives in the event of a serious incident affecting the main platform.
In addition, Dragonet uses SOLTECSIS PBS Online, which enables additional copies of its infrastructure to be stored off-site. This way, local backups are complemented by external backups, reducing dependence on a single location and creating a more robust protection strategy against hardware failures, data loss or disaster scenarios.
With this new infrastructure, Dragonet now has a more resilient, flexible platform that is ready to support the growth of its services, while also strengthening system protection and business continuity.
