Bowfer Informática is a company specialising in comprehensive IT systems maintenance and technology solutions for professionals, SMEs and businesses. Based in Donostia-San Sebastián (Gipuzkoa) and with more than 25 years of experience in the sector, the company provides IT consulting, support and maintenance services, tailoring its solutions to the needs of each client. Its activities cover various technological areas, including server administration and virtualisation, cybersecurity, networks and communications, cloud solutions and backup systems. Throughout its history, Bowfer has consolidated its expertise by offering solutions aimed at improving the efficiency, security and continuity of its clients’ IT systems.
With the aim of modernising its technological infrastructure and embracing virtualisation solutions based on open source technologies, Bowfer Informática has decided to adopt Proxmox VE as its virtualisation platform through the deployment of a three-node hyperconverged cluster with Ceph distributed storage. This solution provides a robust, scalable and high-performance infrastructure, enabling the company to optimise the use of available resources and ensure high availability of its systems. In addition, the integration of Ceph provides greater resilience against potential hardware failures, supporting service continuity and the future growth of the platform.
To carry out this project, at SOLTECSIS we have supported Bowfer throughout the entire implementation process of the new infrastructure, participating in its various stages, from the initial installation and configuration of the nodes to the fine-tuning and optimisation of the Proxmox VE Ceph cluster. As a result, a stable, efficient virtualisation platform has been established, ready to meet the company’s technological needs.
In addition, the project included the migration of systems and virtual machines from the previous infrastructure to the new Proxmox VE Ceph environment, taking advantage of this process to optimise configuration and resource allocation. This transition has improved the performance, efficiency and availability of services.
As a complement to this new infrastructure, Bowfer has opted to implement UDS Enterprise (Universal Desktop Service), a solution that enables centralised management and virtualisation of desktops and applications. Thanks to this technology, users can securely access their work environments remotely from different devices and locations, facilitating mobility and simplifying desktop management. Its integration with Proxmox VE makes it possible to leverage the resources of the new infrastructure and provide a flexible and scalable solution for deploying virtual desktops.
With the integration of Proxmox VE and UDS Enterprise, Bowfer has successfully established a comprehensive virtualisation solution that covers both server and desktop virtualisation.
